Isaiah 12: 2
The Prophet Habakkuk asked God some rather tough questions that we also ask Him these days. We live in times when we also ask questions on issues such as: violence, injustice, sin, wickedness, destruction, and unfairness etc. The book of Habakkuk 1:5 says “…for I will work a work in your days, which ye will not believe, though it be told you.” God performs miracles through unusual means and methods. He uses situations and circumstances to accomplish His eternal purposes. God used the wicked Chaldeans to fulfill His eternal plan for his people. “For, lo, I raise up the Chaldeans, that bitter and hasty nation, which shall march through the breath of the land, to possess the dwelling places that are not theirs.”Habakkuk 1: 6.
God through the invasion of the Chaldeans taught Habakkuk an important lesson: to put his trust in the eternal God who sees the end from the beginning, and who will not tempt us beyond what we can endure, or allow the things we are going through to overwhelm us. “Yet I will rejoice in the LORD, I will joy in the God of my salvation” Habakkuk 3:18. The unpleasant circumstances we go through at times make us judge God too harshly. We need to see the things we are going through from God’s perspective, when we do, we are transformed into His image, and we receive His strength and comfort. We must learn to see God’s hands in every situation. When we are overwhelmed by the stress of contemporary times, we must run to God. When we see the Almighty God as the One in control of the circumstances in our lives, we agree with the Word of God in Isaiah: ““Behold, God is my salvation; I will trust, and not be afraid: for the LORD JEHOVAH is my strength and my song; he also is become my salvation.” Isaiah 12: 2.
And in that day you will say, ‘Give thanks to the Lord, call on His name. Make known His deeds among the peoples; Make them remember that His name is exalted.’ Praise the Lord in song, for He has done excellent things; Let this be known throughout the earth” Isaiah 12: 2-5.
God demonstrated His holiness, justice, goodness and love for us on the Cross. Therefore, we have no excuse to doubt His love for us, because the Bible declares that God sent Jesus to die for us while we were yet sinners. God is the unchanging Redeemer, and his attributes do not change. We must learn to interpret circumstances by God, for indeed, God uses circumstances to accomplish His eternal purposes.
PRAYER: LORD, help me see you in all that I face in life.
