UNSHAKEABLE COURAGE
Joshua 1:1-9
“Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.” – Joshua 1:9
In Joshua 1, we see God call Joshua to step into a huge role, leading the Israelites into the Promised Land. After Moses’ death, the responsibility falls to Joshua, and he faces both the unknown and the pressures of leadership. Sensing his fear, God commands Joshua three times to “be strong and courageous,” reminding him that he’s not going into this battle alone.
Joshua’s strength didn’t come from his own capabilities, but from knowing that God would be with him. God reassures him, “I will never leave you nor forsake you” (Joshua 1:5). When God calls us to something beyond our own strength, He also equips us with His presence. Courage doesn’t come from self-confidence, but from God-confidence.
God tells Joshua to keep His Word close, to meditate on it continually, and to live by it. Joshua’s success depended on his commitment to God’s guidance, not just his skill or strategy. In the same way, immersing ourselves in God’s Word helps us stay focused and grounded, especially when challenges arise.
Courage isn’t the absence of fear, but the willingness to trust and move forward despite it. When God called Joshua to lead, He didn’t promise an easy road, but He did promise His presence. God calls us to bold steps of faith as well, asking us to trust Him, even when the future feels uncertain.

PRAYER: Lord, give me the strength and courage to follow Your call, trusting in Your presence with me every step of the way. Help me to stay grounded in Your Word and to walk forward in faith, even in the face of uncertainty. Amen
