1 Thessalonians 4: 1-12

“And we urge you brother, to live quietly, to mind your own business and to work with your own hands, just as we commanded you”.  1 Thesas, 4:11.

If there is anything you must do this year, it is to “mind your own business”.  This is the charge for you.  You must MIND YOUR OWN BUSINESS in 2025.  It is a new year.  It is not a year of frivolities.  It is a jubilee year.  It is twenty-five years into and the end of the first quarter of the third millennia.  If you were born before year 2000, it means you have seen the first quarter of the twenty-first century.  Now cast your mind back to the date 01-01-2000. Twenty-five years ago, we erupted with joy at the onset of a new millennium, a new century, a new decade, a new year and of course, a new day!

No matter your age, we should ask you questions: how had the twenty-five years gone?  What do you have to show for it?  Even if you are younger, you should still answer the question.  These past fifteen years, ten years, what do I have to show?  The key to answering the question is to mind your own business.  What is your business?  How do you mind it?  Why should you mind it?  What would be the effect of minding it?

Beloved, you must have a business.  The bible was careful to include the word “own”.  Yes, you must own a business.  It begins with things like your home, your education your job etc.  But a time comes when you must own a business of your OWN.  Nobody gets rich or wealthy on salary alone.  Our elders say “job is for feeding while business is for wealth”.  Yes your job  can only feed you.  But if you want wealth, go into business.  This year, what can you do?  Is it selling, farming, distribution, intelligence marketing, manufacturing and invention etc.  The horizon is wide.  Pick your own.

If you own a business, you will mind it.  Minding it means putting your all to it.  When you do, you won’t have time for other people’s business: who is dating who?  Who greeted or did not greet you last Sunday in church?  Who bought a new car?  No. You have enough on your hands.  Businesses have life when minded properly.  They grow.  As it grows, your profiting comes.  It eliminates idle days.  It helps you number your days.  At the end of the year, when you take stock, you can see when the year had gone and what the year had yielded for you.

Saint of God, start something.  However small, start.  It may look whatever, still start.  When you have a business and you mind it, you are contributing your quota to the nation’s economic productivity.  Be a productive Christian and not just a consumer.

PRAYER:  Help me oh LORD to mind my own business.
