Proverbs. 11:22-27

There is that scattereth, and yet increaseth; and there is that witholdeth more than is meet, but it tendeth to poverty.  Proverbs 11:24

The quoted scripture defies all logic.  Naturally, if you want riches, you accumulate, you save more and more.  Yet the bible says no, that is not the way.  If you must increase, you must scatter.  If you want to escape poverty, don’t withhold that which you have; scatter it!  This is another paradox in the bible.  It is not contradictory.  Rather it establishes a major biblical doctrine or principle.

Wealth creation is a function of certain age-long and tested principles.  Primary among them is the biblical principle of scattering to gather.  As a believer in Christian teachings and doctrines, you must apply this principle on a daily basis.  Life is about giving out that which you have, to get what you need.  “The liberal soul shall be made fat”.  One would think it is the conservative soul that should be made fat, and not the one that is liberal with his resources.

Look around you and you will see this principle demonstrated all over the place.  Rivers remain fresh while lakes stink.  Why?  Simply because the river gives but the lake only receives.  The Dead Sea is so called because it receives and never gives.  Nothing lives in the Dead Sea.  It is the lowest point on earth.  It doesn’t flow out.  Its water is salty and deadly.  The beggar would remain a beggar for life as long as all he does is to receive from others.  He doesn’t contribute to the society; No, He begs and receives day in day out.

Dearest, giving is the thing. Jesus said: Give to every man that asketh of thee; and of him that taketh away thy goods, ask them not again”  (Luke 6:30)  Giving is the key.  Give!  If you breath in and don’t breath out, you will be dead.  If the land receives rain and refuses to send back the vapours to the sky, there will be no more rain.  This year and beyond, please give.  Give money.  Give talent.  Give time.  Give materials.  Give intellect.  Just give.  The result will be as stated by our Lord himself:

Give and it shall be given unto you; good measure, pressed down, and shaken together, and running over, shall men give into your bosom.  For with the same measure that ye mete withal it shall be measured to you again.  Luke 6:38.

You want more from life?  Give more to life.  It is not a contradiction.  It is a paradox.

MEDITATION:  It is more blessed to give than to receive.  Acts 20:35
