THE LAW OF STRUCTURE
1 Kings 10:1-10.
The dictionary defines structure as planning, organising, or arranging the parts of something. When this is applied to life in general, a structured life is keeping a schedule or routine, which includes making time for yourself and activities that bring you joy and that will ultimately enable you to attain your goals in life. Attainment of goals is dependent on how structured you allow your life to be. Nobody arrives at the doorstep of success without the discipline of a structured life. Take a look at Solomon in our text. He lived a structured life to the extent that other rulers heard and came to see for themselves.
And when the queen of Sheba had seen all Solomon’s wisdom, and the house that he had built, and the meat of his table, and the sitting of his servants, and the attendance of his ministers, and their apparel, and his cupbearers, and his ascent by which he went up unto the house of the LORD; there was no more spirit in her. 1 Kings 10:6-10.
Having a routine and structural schedule allows for better time management throughout the day while helping us complete many tasks, giving us more personal time for enjoyment, or allowing extra tasks to get done. It also helps us increase our productivity throughout the day while ending procrastination.
Two principles help guide the sustainment of daily routines. The first principle is “primary routines”, which consist of a regular and healthy diet, sleep and personal hygiene. These primary routines should be prioritised over “secondary routines”. These include dealing with leisure and social activities, exercising and work/study.
It’s very important as a Christian to have a structured morning routine. Start your day with God. The God factor is essential for a successful life. Spend time in prayer and the word of God daily. Make this a priority. Feed your soul and your spirit before any other thing. Mark 8:36 “For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul?”. Make a “To-Do” list with the top priority being written down first and the least important being last for each day. Place it where you can see it first time in the morning and throughout the day if needed.
Ensure that the structure you implement suits you and your life. Your life is unique, and the structure that helps you may not suit anyone else. As long as your structured routines are implemented with healthy habits that serve you and help you maintain a balanced life, you are on your way to achieving success in life.
MEDITATION: Let all things be done decently and in order.
