DON’T BE AN ABSENTEE
Proverbs 27:8-17
This life we live can be compared to a theatrical stage and God as the lead director has appointed roles to everyone to play. If you do not play your role, a lot of things will go wrong. You cannot transfer your own role to another as God does not accept altered roles not to talk of you being absent on location. You are not to be absent from your place of assignment, which is the responsibility God has placed in your hand – home, workplace, Church etc.
“Like a bird that wandereth from her nest”, leaving behind her place of refuge and being exposed to many dangers that ordinarily would have been prevented, so, is the person who absents himself from his place of assignment at any point in time. No matter what the excuse for getting out is, it exposes man to lots of dangers and compromises. No wonder the Bible advises Christians not to neglect the gathering of fellow believers (Hebrews 10:25).
The enemy will always provide a reason for you to be away. Don’t be deceived by the genuineness of your reasons. It is a plot to lure you to a place where you will be vulnerable and the attack on you as a person and on your assignment will be perfected. This is the reason why an absentee parent loses his/her children to waywardness; why an absentee church member easily falls into perdition; why an absentee worker loses his worth and/or job. Your nest, like the bird, is your place of refuge and responsibility. It is the only place where you are safe, comfortable and secured: “A man that wandereth out of the way of understanding shall remain in the congregation of the dead” (Proverbs 21:16).Your nest is a place of fruit bearing for God. Every step of departure without divine guidance is a departure of God.
