WHEN GOD HELPS YOU IV
1 John 5:1-15
This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to his will, he hears us. And if we know that he hears us—whatever we ask—we know that we have what we asked of him. 1 John 5:14-15
Another way God helps his people is by answering our prayers. God deliberately established the prayer channel to help his people. Prayer is not just a way of communing with God; it is our channel of help. In 2 Chronicles, chapter seven, God reiterated prayer as man’s way of receiving God’s help in times of trouble.
“When I shut up the heavens so that there is no rain, or command locusts to devour the land or send a plague among my people, if my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land. 2 Chronicles 7:13-14.
This is God’s guarantee of help in the time of need. If you can pray, God can answer. We have this assurance from him not only in the Old Testament but also in the new. And in that day you will ask Me nothing. Most assuredly, I say to you, whatever you ask the Father in My name He will give you. Until now you have asked nothing in My name. Ask, and you will receive, that your joy may be full, John 16: 23-24.
You have the liberty of asking and receiving until your joy is full. If ever you come against any daunting situation, feel free to approach God in prayers. He has promised to answer you and he will. With this assurance, “let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need”, Hebrews 4:16. You must not allow the enemy cheat you and deprive you of anything that gives you joy. Go to God in prayers. He still answers prayers. He is your helper.
MEDITATION: Ask until your joy is full.
