PUT GOD FIRST DAILY

Mark 1: 32-42

The best thing to do in order to live wisely in this ever busy world is to follow the example of Jesus in our text and put God first in the day. Let God take the first place in your day. If you put God first in a day, that day must go well. If you allow God to take first place in your day, the day must end well Matt. 6: 33. Gen. 19: 27 says “And Abraham gat up early in the morning to the place where he stood before the LORD.”

Avoid the temptation of doing other things first before speaking to God in the morning. Avoid the temptation of reading, writing or sending an email or a text message first thing in the morning before talking with God. Avoid the temptation of making phone calls in the morning before you remember to pray. Avoid the temptation of attending to other things before having time for God.

It was Martin Luther, the Reformer, who said, “I have so much to do today that I must spend the first three hours with God in prayer before starting the day.” Can you imagine that! However, for many people, the opposite is the case. They will say, “I have so much to do today that I don’t have enough time to pray.” But Martin Luther made up his mind that he must spend three hours with God in prayer before stepping out to face the business of the day.

When you put God first in the day, you connect the strength, wisdom and divine resources to handle that day. You connect with the strength of the day because they that wait on the Lord shall renew their strength. Is. 40: 31 But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint. So, put God first in your day. Begin the day with God. Seek quality time with God before you begin your day. That is wisdom!

It is important for you to cultivate the habit of always putting God first in everything. Don’t do it until you have asked God. In a meeting, don’t contribute or venture an opinion until you are sure that is what God wants you to say. Never get out of bed any day without a good time with the Lord. Those who spend quality time with God usually have the day taken care of by God.

PRAYER: Thank you Lord for showing me the wisdom of putting You first in everything I do. I ask for grace and discipline to fellowship with you first at the beginning of each day before I do other things in Jesus name.
