THE TRUE LIGHT
John 1: 1-11
“That was the true Light which gives light to every man coming into the world” John 1:9
Each of us came into the world at some point (at our birth). One of the implications of this is that we are not ‘indigenous’ to the world; we are all some sort of visitors or pilgrims. Jim Reeves puts it aptly in his song: ‘This world is not my home, I’m just a passing through…’ If this is true as it is, then we all, having come into the world at some point, need some guide and some direction. This is exactly what Jesus came to do. He, being the true Light, gives light to every man.
It is not possible to live outside Christ and His principles and live successfully in this world. All who claim to know the way are liars! He (Jesus) made it clear that He is ‘the way’, not ‘a way.’ Jn. 14: 6 “Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.” All confusions in this world arise from being unwilling to follow The Way (Jesus). And being the true Light, we are all in darkness until we meet Him who is the Light. Have you met Him? Are you walking in His ways? If you are confused in life, it may just be the proof you need that you need Him. We’re in darkness until we come to His light, and that’s final!
Are you born again? Do you know him? If your answer is yes, congratulations. But that is not the end. When you know him, you will want to know him more. Paul prayed: that I may know him! That means knowing him is in levels. Your heart must pant after him to know him more than you ever did. Let this be your heart cry every day. The more of him you know, the better your understanding and greater your exploits.
PRAYER: Lord, I humbly come to Your light in every area of my life.
