STUDYING TO SHOW OURSELVES APPROVED
2 Timothy 2:15
The place of studying the word of God cannot be overemphasized. The more of His word we know the more of His nature we put on. 2 Timothy 2:15 says, “Study to show thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.” As believers, we’re called to be students of the Word, seeking to understand God’s truth and apply it to our lives.
Studying the Bible is not just about gaining knowledge or head understanding; it’s about being transformed by the power of God’s Word and becoming more like Jesus. It’s about being equipped for every good work and being able to rightly divide the word of truth.
Let’s take a moment to examine our lives. Are we studying the Bible regularly, seeking to understand God’s truth and apply it to our lives? Are we being transformed by the power of God’s Word, or are we stagnant and unchanged?
Some practical ways to apply this verse include setting aside dedicated time for Bible study, using study resources and tools, and seeking guidance and support from other believers. Don’t be too busy, engage the word before you engage your world. Those that rule in the affairs of men are those who are ruled by the word of God. The moon’s glory shows it’s a reflection of the Sunshine. You look like the company you keep.
How do you know you are doing well in the word, it is when others begin to study your life and they cannot but see the evidence of quality time being spent with the Holy Spirit in the place of studying the word.
MEDITATION: The bible I don’t read has become a literature on the shelve. The bible I read will become the life within the shelves of my soul bringing to me and others fruits of eternal value..
PRAYER: “Oh Lord, help me to be a student of the Word, seeking to understand Your truth and apply it to my life. Give me a hunger and thirst for Your Word, and help me to be transformed by its power. Equip me for every good work and help me to rightly divide the word of truth. Amen.”
