DON’T GIVE IN TO TEMPTATION

Proverbs 7:16-19

Life issues are expressed in choices; the choice you make will determine the outcome you get. The choices expressed in Proverbs 7 are options between life and death. And whenever God presents choices to man, He would always advise on the better choice to make. Note the word “advise”. God never forces. He leaves the decision to man to make. In verse 2 God advised: “Keep my commandment and live”. But according to Proverbs 18:17, “There’s a way that seemeth right unto man, but the end thereof are the ways of death”. The way of destruction always seems attractive. This is why temptations become tasking.

Temptations would definitely come to you as a believer. Surely, there is no sin in being tempted. But when you give in to temptation and allow it to take the upper hand in your life, therein is the problem. Don’t be deceived, temptations would never come to you announcing that it is temptation. Just like the adulteress in the reading today, it would present itself comely and appealing, promising life but ending up in death.

The response to whatever temptation you are faced with is Jesus Christ. On your own you can do nothing. You need Him to overcome temptations, no matter the way it presents itself to you. The power you have to conquer is in Christ Jesus. He is the one that is able to keep you from sinking in the sea of sin. It is only through Christ that you would be able to resist temptation. Through Him you will really see temptations for what they truly are and approach it rightly. Your victory is sure in Christ.

Memory Verse: “Blessed is the man that endureth temptation: for when he is tried, he shall receive the crown of life, which the Lord promised to them that love Him” (James 1:12).

PRAYER: Dear Lord, lead me not into temptation.
