LESSONS FROM THE ANTS

Proverbs 6:6-11

God was not being comical or sarcastic when it instructed in the scripture above that man should consider the ways of the ants. The ways of the ants indeed present great lessons to man. Myrmecology, the Study of Ants reveals that ants are a special creature of God that possess great virtues of which man can learn from. Ants are able to lift objects that are 20 times their own weight. Even though the life expectancy of an ant is between 45 to 60 days, yet their lives accomplish much in that limited life span.

As much as the ants in a colony may seem, they all have their functions and they work together as a team for the good of the colony. There is a great lesson that together we can achieve much. Another great lesson that can be learnt from the ants is PERFORMANCE. They are always busy, never lazy, no excuses and they avoid distractions to achieve results. Their major concern is food and shelter and they are goal oriented. Where the foods are, there you will find the ants, right on time, no absences but consistency. They would line up, bearing their “catch” on the journey back home. Even when the line is disrupted for any reason, they get back on line.

The question you should ask yourself is whether you outdo the ants in performance with all the qualities you possess? Are you a lazy person, putting off what you need to do today till another day, which may never come, procrastinating? Do you have excuses on why an attempt will not work? Go to the ant, consider her ways, and be wise.

Memory Verse: “The ants are a people not strong, yet they prepare their meat in the summer” (Proverbs 30:25).

PRAYER: I receive the grace to learn wisdom and utilize it for the glory of God and the benefit of man.
