PLANS AND REALITIES
Proverbs 16: 1-9
It is often said that “failing to plan is planning to fail”. This saying goes to emphasize the importance of planning. As much as planning is important, it should be done within the confines of God’s purposes for mankind. Do not get it wrong. It’s good to think ahead, picturing in your mind how your future will unfold; mapping out plans on how you want to make your dreams become a reality. More often than not, things don’t go hundred percent as planned. Some envisaged doors would not open while those you never imagined open all due to the plans and purposes of God for you.
As already established, it is a good thing to dream and plan. But as we map out our plans, we must never lose sight of the fact that God could have something entirely different for us. So we must be open minded to possible changes in our plans orchestrated by God. One thing we must be certain of is that God will never mislead us. Jeremiah 29:11 – “For I know the thoughts (plans) that I think toward you, saith the Lord, thoughts (plans) of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end”.
God’s plan should be our reality. It is the best place to be because His ways are always the best. He will never mislead you. Verse 9 says: “A man’s heart plans his ways, but the Lord directs his steps”. Allow God to lead you in your planning. Trust Him with the whole of your heart. As you go out, daily commit your ways into the hands of the living God, giving Him room to hold your hands and deliver your future into your hands. He knows you better than you know yourself: “Before I formed thee in the belly I knew thee; and before thou camest forth out of the womb I sanctified thee…” (Jeremiah 1:5a).
Memory Verse: “For the ways of man are before the eyes of the Lord, and he pondereth all his goings” (Proverbs 50:21).
PRAYER: Commit your plans into the hands of the Lord
