TO SUCCEED IN THE NEW YEAR IV
Mathew 6:25-34
In this series, we have considered Instructions, Vision and Diligence as very key in having a great year. The next principle is that of kingdom priority. We can summarize today’s text in two sentences: Stop worrying yourself about the things that trouble the people of the world. Rather pay attention to the kingdom of God and God will take care of yours. If you must have a great year this year, the kingdom of God must come first on your list of priorities.
If you do this, God himself will make you His own priority. If you seek the kingdom first, what others seek first will be looking for you. They will become mere additions to you. Therefore in your running this year, prioritize the kingdom of God. In other words, pay attention to the kingdom. Two things are paramount here. Make the kingdom your own priority and live a righteous life. This should be your year of kingdom addiction. Everything about you must be about the kingdom of God. You must love it, breathe it, walk it, talk it and celebrate it. You must be fanatical about the kingdom this year. It must be your number one consideration in decision making. It must be deliberately programmed into your programs.
How do you do this? First you must work on your relationship with God. He is the King of the Kingdom. Get very personal with Him. Be sure of your salvation. Repent of your sins and do not go back to them. Create time for God. Fellowship with him regularly. Walk with God. Hear from Him and obey Him. Secondly, be among His people. Be a functional part of your Local assembly. Let the assembly feel your impact. Be responsible for something. Join a working team. Be a pillar there. Don’t just receive from the fellowship, contribute your own quota to the success of the fellowship.
How will all these affect your year? “And all these things shall be added unto you? (Vs 33). While every other person is running around for what to eat, wear, build, acquire etc, God Himself will make you His priority. And “all these things shall be added unto you”. Have a great year.
PRAYER: Lord I receive grace to make the kingdom my priority.
