THE LAW OF DETERMINATION
Luke 9: 57- 62
Determination refers to the quality of mind directed at achieving a purpose. It is to be resolute regarding a purpose or mission. It can be described as the catalyst that fuels a man’s vision. This is what makes you keep trying, despite all odds, to achieve your aim and objectives. It is important to note that nothing great has ever been achieved easily. It is determination that pushes for result. Determination propels actions that generate results.
No matter the difficulties you face in life, never give up. Nothing good comes easy. This is not a cliché, it is the way life is. Everything that is valuable in life is hidden inside something. You have to make effort to get it. In trying to achieve your goals or actualize your visions, there will always be obstacles. There are times you will stumble, falter or fall altogether. The beauty of it is that when you fall, there is always time to stand up again and keep moving. You need to make up your mind that no matter how many times you fall, you have to rise again and try smarter and harder.
The story of Ruth is motivational any day (Ruth 1:16-18). You will wonder what propelled her to choose to follow her mother-in-law when it seemed that the woman was cursed. Or how would you explain the misfortunes that befell her. She relocated from her country seeking greener pastures. But at what cost? Loss of her husband and two sons! It could only take a purposeful person to keep following such a person. Ruth purposed in her heart. She was determined to push through with the choice she had made to be a part of Naomi’s clan; not minding the choice of her sister-in-law Orpha. She said: Your God will be my God! Her determination paid off. She became the great great grandmother of Jesus. The Lord rewarded her resoluteness. He settled her. We never heard anything again about her sister-in-law.
If your desire is to be successful, you must prioritize determination in quest for success. Challenges will come, not just once, but several times. It is your resoluteness, your determination that will keep you going, pursuing your dreams and aspirations. If you throw in the towel, you will never achieve anything. Determination is the resolve to meet every obstacle with the assurance that it can and will be overcome.
In the words of Thomas Edison “Our greatest weakness lies in giving up. The most certain way to succeed is always to try just one more time”. Determination is the key to unlocking achievement. When faced with a roadblock, it is your resoluteness that makes you find a way, whether over, under, through or around it. Determination gets through no matter what. Don’t wait for a green light to go, you are the green light.
