GOD WILL HELP YOU

PSALM 46:1-11

There is no self-made man. If you see a successful man, we show you one that is heped. Life is never lived in isolation. From the womb to the tomb, we receive the help of others. As much as we need human help, God’s help is supreme. Without God, no man can help you. Today we are led to tell you that God shall help you. He is the one who will help you today, this month and the remaining days of this year and even beyond.  The first thing we want to emphasize is the identity of your Helper. God is your helper, not man. It is God who will help you. If you know who God is, you will be glad to have him as your helper. God is the One who made the heavens and the earth! This God is awesome and capable as well as loving enough to willingly help you. Let’s take a look at the One who is our helper.

Anyone who must make another must first be made. God is too marvellous for words. Too wonderful for comprehension! Hebrews 12:29 calls Him the Consuming Fire. He is immortality that dwells in the light that no man can approach. He lifts up one, and puts down another. He does what He likes, and He likes what he does.  He is sovereign! Take a look at the power of the president of a country. For example in Nigeria, he is called Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of the Federal Republic of Nigeria!  He doesn’t pick up a pin to fight, yet he’s referred to as commander-in-chief of the armed forces.  By veto power, he can release a convict from prison.  When he sneezes people catch cold.  The President of a nation is a very powerful individual.  It is hard to reverse whatever he declares.

If a mortal man whose breath is in his nostrils can be that powerful, how much more God who commands the breath of all governors and presidents put together?  Consider how great this God is.  He oversees, feeds, clothes, shelters and hears over eight billion people on earth.  Apart from sustaining the entire human population, He cares for all species of animals, birds, reptiles and all the plants.  He knows what each needs to survive, and He supplies it adequately.  What an awesome God!

Consider the weight of His personality. If this God says He will help you, please believe Him.  If He says he will make you, please don’t doubt Him.  He is not weak.  The weight of a word is dependent on the status of the one who says that word.  If He surrounds you and backs you up with the same weight, you have nothing to be afraid of.  It does not matter what people do against you.  With God on your side, you are protected.  With God on your side there is no cause for alarm.  With Him in your boat you can smile at the storm.

MEDITATION: “So we say with confidence, “The Lord is my helper; I will not be afraid. What can mere mortals do to me?”
