THE BLESSING OF THE LORD III
Ephesians 1:1-12
Today we are rounding up our study on the seven things that accompany the blessing of the Lord. We have identified Favour, Health, Wealth and Peace in our previous readings. We will now consider the remaining three.
DEFENCE: The blessing of the Lord is a wall of defence round about you and yours. In Numbers 23 and 24, we are told how Balak, the king of Moab hired Balaam, a prophet to curse Israel so that Israel could be defeated in battle. Unknown to Israel, God’s blessing defended Israel. “Behold, I have received commandment to bless: and he hath blessed; and I cannot reverse it” Numbers 23:19-20. The blessing defends and protects you from all attacks and from all forms of evil.
PROTECTION: This is closely related to defence. The blessing is a shield. It protects you from the vicissitudes of life. Whenever evil is ravages the land, it is only the blessed people that escape. Check history. As destructive and pervading the plagues were, it never reached Goshen. By the reason of the blessing, your dwelling this year shall be Goshen in the name of Jesus. The Lord shall be your refuge and your fortress. He shall deliver you from the snare of the fowler and from the noisome pestilence. He shall cover you with His feathers and under His wings you shall be protected, (Psalm 91).
PROGRESS: When a man is blessed, he cannot remain on the same spot. He will make progress. The path of the Just is as a shining light that shines more and more unto a perfect day (Proverbs 4:11). You shall go from one level of glory to another. No matter your level now, you have not reached your peak yet. There are still higher heights ahead. You will get there. As a carrier of the blessing even in the time of famine, Isaac was prosperous. “And the man waxed great, and went forward, and grew until he became very great” (Genesis 26:13). This shall be your portion.
Dearly beloved, we are led to declare unto you that today, the Lord is blessing you more than he has ever done in your life. You shall wax great. You shall go forward. You shall become exceedingly great.
PRAYER: The blessing of the Lord is my portion. I shall be favoured. I shall be healthy and wealthy. I shall enjoy peace and protection. The Lord shall defend me and I shall make continuous progress.
