THE DANGER OF PRIDE

1 Corinthians 13:4

1 Corinthians 13:4 warns us against pride and arrogance, which can lead to lovelessness and harm relationships. As believers, we must strive to be humble and gentle, reflecting God’s love and character. Pride is a subtle sin, but it’s a deadly one (Proverbs 16:18). It can creep into our lives and destroy our relationships, making us critical and judgmental. But humility is the antidote to pride, and it’s the key to healthy relationships (Philippians 2:3-5).

As we focus on humility, we’ll become more like Jesus, and our relationships will be transformed. We’ll become better listeners, better friends, and better servants, and we’ll make a positive impact on our world. Let’s take a moment to examine our lives. Are we humble and gentle, or are we proud and arrogant? Are we seeking to serve others, or are we seeking to elevate ourselves?

If you elevate someone’s life today, then you are that faithful servant that has not hidden his/her talent. God will not only reward you with more blessings in the current world but also in the world to come. Sow a seed of love today to improve someone’s life. It is a gain and not a loss. When we get to heaven and Jesus will tell us; when I was sick, you supported me. When I was homeless, you gave me an abode to stay. When I was hungry, you fed me. (Matthew 25:35-36).

The proof of love is in the action that follows same. You cannot love and hide same and still call it love. People may forget our messages, but our acts of love would stay and linger more in their minds. Do something about it today no matter how little, you can encourage someone in words and in good deeds.

PRAYER: “Lord, help me to be humble and gentle, avoiding pride and arrogance. May I walk in love and humility, just as Jesus did. Give me the strength to serve others and prioritize their needs above my own. Amen.”
