GRACE FOR GENTLENESS/MEEKNESS

Galatians 5:22-23

The word gentleness/meekness is closely linked to humility; gentleness is grace of the soul. It is not weakness, but instead it is strength under control. For example, in Paul’s second letter to Timothy, he wrote that the “Lord’s servant” will “correct his opponents with gentleness” (2 Timothy 2:25). And in Paul’s letter to the church in Galatia, he wrote that those who have been caught in sin should be restored in a “spirit of gentleness” (Galatians 6:1). Gentleness, being the opposite of self-assertiveness and self-interest, is also a key ingredient in unity and peace within the body of Christ (Ephesians 4:2) as the case may be.

You need this as a believer. It is the highest height of maturity for any believer to attain. It will pave ways for you in quarters that matter. It is deeper than humility as it makes you to be calm putting your strength under control. It requires you listening to the Spirit of God in you for every situation. Gentleness doesn’t mean stupidity! It means being wise as a serpent and gentle as a dove. This can only be achieved leaning on the strength of the Holy Spirit.

It is that ability to be calm enough in one’s spirit to hear what God has to say at cross roads of life. It is also the ability to make sound judgments at the right time.

MEDITATION: Are my will and dealings about life endeavors controlled by the Holy Spirit on a twenty four hourly basis?

PRAYER: May the grace of the Lord guide me into all truth, making me to know where to speak or refrain from speaking.
