A ROYAL PRIESTHOOD, A HOLY NATION
1 Peter 2:9
But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s special possession, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light – 1 Peter 2:9.
As believers, we’re called to recognize our identity and purpose in Christ, living as a people set apart for God’s glory and praise. As a royal priesthood, we’re called to represent God to the world, declaring His praises and demonstrating His love and character. We’re also called to be a holy nation, living as a community of believers who are distinct from the world and yet engaged with it, shining as lights in the darkness.
Let’s take a moment to examine our lives. Are we living as a royal priesthood, declaring God’s praises and demonstrating His love? Are we recognizing our identity as God’s special possession, and living as a holy nation, set apart for His glory?
Some practical ways to apply this verse include sharing our faith with others, living a life of obedience to God’s Word, and demonstrating God’s love and compassion to those around us. We can also gather together as a community of believers, encouraging and supporting one another in our walk with God.
Take a step today to display your royalty in a manner that reflects the kingdom of God’s establishment on earth as the precious gift God has given to humanity. Don’t waste the grace upon your life. Labour with the same for the improvement of the world around you. Make your priesthood show forth in all your endeavours. Be a professional with a difference. Take the definition of holiness to another level by rejecting the king’s meat and upholding right standing with God as a life style.
For example, we can declare God’s praises by sharing our testimonies, singing hymns and songs of praise, and living a life of gratitude and thanksgiving. We can also live as a holy nation by being intentional about our relationships, seeking to build bridges of understanding and connection with those around us.
MEDITATION: Holiness is MUST for me. There is no negotiation about this.
PRAYER: “Oh Lord, help me to recognize my identity and purpose in Christ, living as a people set apart for Your glory and praise. Give me the courage to declare Your praises and demonstrate Your love, and help me to live as a holy nation, shining as a light in the darkness. Amen.”
