BENEFITS OF OFFERING II
Deuteronomy 14: 22-25
It has been established that offering in various dimensions and categories are ordered by and regulated by the Lord. As it is with whatever God commands, there are benefits attached. In our previous study, we began to look at the benefits. We continue. Our passage today establishes tithing as a commandment from God. By following it, we acknowledge His authority and show our willingness to obey. As such, every blessing attached to obedience of God’s command will follow you if you give an offering or pay your tithe to the Lord.
Giving offering is also a reflection of our Gratitude and Returning Blessings. Giving back a portion of our harvest is a way of expressing gratitude for God’s abundance. We recognize that everything we have comes from Him, and we return a part of it in worship. This now commits God to our well-being. Knowing fully well that what we give or pay to God is a seed, we can be sure that they will return to us in multiple folds as God blesses what remains in our hands and blesses our endeavours.
Furthermore, the act of tithing can help us detach from material possessions and shift our focus to God and His work. Additionally,the act of giving a portion of our income, especially during times of uncertainty, strengthens our faith and trust in God’s ability to provide for our needs. In other words, giving strengthens our trust and faith in God. Giving, especially when it requires sacrifice, demonstrates our trust that God will continue to provide for our needs. We are essentially saying, “I believe You will take care of me, even if I give some of this away.
DECLARATION: Dear Father, you are my God. I will do your will. I will pay my tithes and give my offerings. And the blessings of obedience shall be mine.
