GRACE FOR SELF CONTROL

Galatians 5:22-23

The last series of teaching on fruit of the spirit as described by Apostle Paul points us back to his list of the “works of the flesh” in Galatians 5:19-21. The fruit of Self-control can only be achieved by a man/woman who is constantly subjecting his/her human desires and culture to God’s will. A believer with the indwelling of the Holy Spirit has the strength to control his sinful desires, to say “no” to the dictates of the flesh. Self-control gives us the power to say “yes” to the Spirit and foster a beautiful, bountiful harvest of spiritual fruit!

It should be noted that, just like no seed grows overnight, it is also takes time for the fruit of the spirit to grow. Good growth however is enhanced by the Spirit of God. It is the Spirit that releases the enabling grace of God that strengthens your personal discipline and patience. No man can be, except by the grace of God.

If you find yourself having challenges with the fruit of the Spirit, all you need is to get close to the Holy Spirit. Be processed. Become a tree with roots deep in the Holy Spirit before the fruit can show to the world. The fruit of the spirit is required for a successful Christian life in the world of today. Let your concentration be on growing same and you’ll find the works of the flesh as stated in Galatians 5:19-21 bear no fruit in your character.

The fruit was exhibited by Christ while on earth. He made a success of His ministry on earth by living these as an example for us. Be a true reflection of Christ in your community.
