MEGA GRACE IS YOUR PORTION XIII
Genesis 9: 18-29
The scripture reading for today doesn’t sound like Noah at all. Noah that was the only righteous man in the midst of a perverse and crooked generation got drunk! How come? It is a certainty that if Noah had any say in the compilation of the bible, he would have caused this portion to be expunged. That the record of Noah’s drunkenness is here shows us two things. One is that the scripture records events as they were without any form of ambiguity. The second reason is to show the impartiality of the word of God. Above everything else, the things that are written are written for us as examples so that we can learn from them. The virtues of the past are to be emulated. The mistakes are there for us to avoid. We are to keep learning from the accounts of those who have been before us so that we can have a better testimony.
The account of Noah here is a warning to all of us.
Therefore, let him that thinketh he standeth take heed lest he fall 1 Cor 10:12
As children of God, we must beware at all times. Grace does not mean you cannot fail. Grace can be frustrated through lack of vigilance; overconfidence and ignorance. We must not come to the conclusion that we have arrived at the journey of righteousness. It is an unending journey that we cannot conclude until the coming of the Lord or we go to be with Him. We must not rest on our oars believing that we are now above temptation. Even Jesus was tempted.
As long as we are alive, we shall be buffeted with trials and temptations. Remember, the bible says your adversary, the devil goes about as a roaring lion looking for who to devour. One of his strategies is to lure you into sin. And he specializes in using one’s area of weakness against him. But the word says we must resist him and he will flee. Follow the example of our Lord. He resisted the tempter with the word. Receive grace to stand upon the word at all times and you shall be preserved.
