PROSPERITY OF THE SOUL

3 John 1:2

Everyone in the world if asked about the topic of today will want same. 3 John 1:2 says, “Beloved, I pray that all may go well with you and that you may be in good health, even as it is well with your soul.” As believers, we’re called to recognize the importance of our soul’s prosperity, and to prioritize our spiritual well-being above all else.

The apostle John prays for Gaius, expressing his desire for him to prosper in every way, including his physical health, but especially in his spiritual life. This prayer reflects God’s desire for us to be whole and healthy, with our souls prospering and thriving in our relationship with Him.

Let’s take a moment to examine our lives. Are we prioritizing our soul’s prosperity, seeking to deepen our relationship with God and grow in our faith? Are we recognizing that true prosperity comes from God, and that our spiritual well-being is the foundation of all other aspects of our lives?

Some examples of soul prosperity include the story of Abraham, who was blessed by God and became a father of many nations, and the apostle Paul, who was able to say “I can do all this through him who gives me strength” (Philippians 4:13). We can apply these examples to our own lives by trusting God for guidance and provision, just as these individuals did.

For instance, we can prioritize our soul’s prosperity by spending time in prayer and worship, seeking to deepen our relationship with God. We can also focus on developing our spiritual gifts and talents, using them to serve others and glorify God.

In times of rough weathers and storms of life, we can remind ourselves of God’s faithfulness and goodness, trusting that He’ll continue to work all things for our good. We can also encourage one another, building each other up in our faith and love for God.

PRAYER: “Oh Lord, help me to prioritize my soul’s prosperity, seeking to deepen my relationship with You and grow in my faith. Give me the courage to trust Your goodness and sovereignty, even in the midst of challenges and uncertainties. Help me to recognize Your faithfulness and goodness, and to trust that You’ll continue to work all things for my good. Amen.”
