PUTTING GOD’S GRACE TO WORK IV

1 Samuel 17:36-37

One of the requirements to enjoy the fulfilment of God’s grace producing exceptional results in our lives, is that we recognize that God’s grace is upon our life. A man is not likely to enjoy what he does not know he has. There is a wise saying that ‘when the value of something is not known, abuse is inevitable’. In the same light, enjoying the fullness of what God’s grace has provided for in our lives requires that we ourselves recognize that the grace of God is upon our lives.

In the story in our text of the day, David was confronted with a situation in his life and as he went on that battle with Goliath the giant of Philistine. In his conversation with King Saul, he literarily said to him that he recognizes the hand of God upon his life as he recounted the story of how God himself destroyed the lion and the bear in the front of him. Therefore, he was able to use that same testimony and the recognition of God’s capacity to do great things through him to confront the battle that he had against Goliath and he brought Goliath down. In 1 Samuel 17:34, the Bible said,

“And David said unto Saul, thy servant kept his father’s sheep and there came a lion and a bear and took a lamb out of the flock and I went out after him and smote him and delivered it out of his mouth and when he arose up against me, I caught him by his bear and smote him and slew him. Thy servant slew both the lion and the bear and this uncircumcised Philistine shall be as one of them, seeing he had defiled the armies of the living God.”

Whose grace are you carrying? Do you recognize that there is the mighty Hand of God upon your life? Do you remember the many miracles that God has wrought for you in the past? As you confront the present challenges of your life, are you quick to recount the testimonies of what God has done even in your heart and in the open to propel you to being able to confront the situations of your life with faith? If you are conscious of the God who has kept you all of your days till now, who provided for your needs in the past, who answered your prayers in the past, who rose up in your support when the enemy rose up against you and gave you victory in the past, then you will be bold enough to approach the current challenges by faith. Recognize that God’s hand is upon your life and work in that understanding and you will never fail in the name of Jesus.

PRAYER: Father, I believe in you and I remember your faithfulness. You’ve done so many things for me in the past that I cannot even fully recount. So today, I am trusting in your ability to continue to do what you have done in the past in my life and do more because you have never left me and you remain faithful. Thank you, Lord. In Jesus’ mighty name, Amen.
