THE LAW OF WEALTH
Job 1:1-3
The above text tells of Job, a righteous man whose wealth surpassed that of any man in the land during his time. With Job, we can conclude that righteousness is not opposed to wealth. But it must be noted that wealth is a regular consequence of certain laws and actions. Consider this: But thou shall remember the LORD thy God: for it is he that giveth thee power to get wealth, that he may establish his covenant which he swore unto thy fathers, as it is this day. Deuteronomy 8:18
So wealth is from God. He gives to who he wishes. His plan and purpose is to bless you. His blessing produces wealth. So the first Law is to acknowledge the God-factor. If you acknowledge that what you have and will ever have is from God, you will work on your relationship with God more. You must prioritize your walk with him; your obedience to him as well as your commitment to his principles.
Once you settle yourself with your Creator who the bible says has pleasure in the prosperity of his people, the rest is easy. He is the ultimate source of the vision that would birth your wealth. Great ideas emanate from God. This is what is referred to in the scripture as the “power to get wealth” He will give you that power. It may be a tiny inspiration. It may be big. It may be an opportunity he brings across your way that will catapult you to your highway of wealth.
Some of the laws that govern wealth have been addressed on their own merit in this devotional. So it will do you well to look at diligence, savings, integrity, patience, delayed gratification etc. Nevertheless, we will abridge some of them here for the purpose of this particular topic. We cannot over-emphasize Diligence. One highly successful man of God was asked the secret of his ministry. He responded thus: “Ministry is one percent inspiration and ninety-nine percent perspiration”. In other words, God inspires but you have to perspire. Another law is that of financial discipline. You must discipline yourself to spend less that you earn. If you do, you will have savings. This is the beginning of wealth creation. But if you spend more than you earn, you become a debtor and very soon, you will bankrupt!
Having saved some money, you enter into the second rule; investing your surplus. It is ridiculous to accumulate savings and then waste it on some frivolous spending. Finally, learn to delay your gratification. Let the investments grow. Plow in the profits and watch your wealth grow. Invest, rather than spend your money, time and talent. It shall be well with you and your wealth.
REFLECTION: Wealth is like an animal that must be captured and trained to remain and produce more in your house.
