TO SUCCEED IN THE NEW YEAR II
Habakkuk 2:1-4
We are still considering the secrets of having a successful New Year. We were informed in our previous reading that just like any new gadget; the New Year also comes with its instructions. Our scriptural reading today, talks about Vision. Vision has been variously described by several people. As this is not an academic treatise, we will not bother you with loads of definition. Suffice to say that vision is the pictorial image you have of your future. Where are you heading to? What are your dreams? What do you hope to become? In a few years’ time, what and where will you be? Coming closer home; at the end of this year, what will you have accomplished? What are your goals? How do you work to accomplish them?
The word of God says the absence of vision is tantamount to destruction. People perish because they lack vision (Proverbs 21:18). One of the secrets for success this year is vision. You must have goals. There must be plans to actualize. Set targets. These must be realizable stage by stage. If you participated in the Twelve-Days Fasting and Prayer Session for the year, it is expected that by now, all your plans and programs for the year are set. They are also to be written down so that you can read and run with it. The words you heard are supposed to guide your vision. Habakkuk said I will wait “to see” what He will say to me. You do not just hear the word, you must “see” it. This is vision.
It is not too late to sit down and work something out for the year. We are in the first few days. The year is still in its infancy. Travel inwards. Look up to the Lord. Open your ears and your mind. Ask God what do you have for me this year? What will you have me do? This is the beginning.
The days are running fast. Whether utilized or not, each day will run past you. If there is no vision for a given day, it is wasted. Wasted days have a habit of piling up to become wasted months accumulating to wasted year. This will not be your portion. Dream dreams. Catch Vision. Draw plans. Set targets. Pursue your goals. Have a great year.
