A SHOW OF GRATITUDE
Psalm 66:1-20
Another thing we should understand about our offering is that it is a way of showing gratitude to our Maker and God. He made us. He sustains us. He protects us. The breath in our nostrils keeps us alive. Without the oxygen he gives us, none of us will be alive. Yet this breath of life is absolutely free. You can visit the hospital to inquire on the cost of oxygen. You will be surprised that the wealthiest among us cannot afford to pay for it beyond a certain period.
Come and see the works of God: he is terrible in his doing toward the children of men. He turned the sea into land . . . O bless our God ye people, and make the voice of his praise to be heard. Which holdeth our soul in life, and suffereth not our feet to be moved, Psalm 66:5-9
Can you see? Your being alive is one of the wonderful works of God. If he withdraws your breath today, what will happen to the wealth you are protecting and withholding from him? Be liberal towards God and his house. It is a way of saying, Father I am grateful for what I am, what I have and where I am. If you do this, the Lord will ensure your sustainability and longevity. He will secure you all round about and continue to add to you and even multiply you beyond your dreams.
Just imagine the troubles you have been through and how he took you out of them. Your travails that ended in triumphs are the works of God. When men rode over your head; when you went through the fire; he brought you out and you are now in your wealthy place and still going further. Like the Psalmist, why not say: I will go into thy house with burst offerings. I will pay thee my vows which my lips have uttered, and my mouth hath spoken, when I was in trouble, Psalm 66:13-14
Let us continue to show gratitude to God. When we are grateful and show it with our offering, he shall not turn away our prayers nor remove his mercy from us (vs 20). Stay grateful and stay blessed.
PRAYER:My Father, I am grateful to you for what I am, what I have and what I will ever be, Help me Lord to let my offerings reflect my gratitude.
