ENDING THE BATTLE WITH PRAISE

1 Corinthians 15:55-58

The strategic power of thanksgiving is the heart of our assurance, as captured in 1 Corinthians 15:57: “But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.” It is the realization that the decisive moment of the war is over, and we are now engaged in a mopping-up operation, dividing the spoils.

Our first response in the face of conflicts should not be panic, anxiety, or frantic scheming; it should be praise. Praise is the ultimate expression of faith. It is celebrating the outcome before the physical evidence has manifested. It is declaring God’s finished work when the enemy is still posturing on your doorstep.

The perfect example is the confrontation of King Jehoshaphat against the vast coalition of the Ammonites, Moabites, and others (2 Chronicles 20). Faced with an overwhelming enemy, in obedience to divine instructions, Jehoshaphat sent the singers and worshippers, dressed in holy attire, to march ahead of the army, praising the Lord. The army’s front line was a choir. The moment they began to sing and praise, the Lord set ambushes among the enemy ranks. The opposing armies turned on themselves, resulting in self-destruction. When Judah finally arrived, they found only corpses and rich spoils. They did not have to lift a single sword; their praise initiated God’s ambush.

When God appears as the “God of War,” He does not need you to negotiate; He needs you to worship. When we choose to deploy the weapon of praise, we are not distancing ourselves from the problem; we are strategically inviting the Commander of Heaven’s Armies to step into our circumstances and guarantee the final, decisive triumph. And when the Lord arises, the enemies must scatter; they cannot coexist with the glory of His presence.

Your voice is not just a musical instrument; it is a weapon of war. Take a moment today to sing, to worship, and to lift your voice, not for victory, but from the certainty of victory. Let your praise be the announcement that the battle has already been decided at the Cross, and that failure is not an option for those who stand under the banner of Christ.

PRAYER: O Lord, contend with those who contend with me; fight against those who fight against me!
