GRACE FOR PATIENCE
Galatians 5:22-23
It is imperative to say the world we are in today has moved to beyond the jet age. We don’t see much patience in the world today, not even among believers in the church. Maybe part of the reason is our fast-paced, want-it-now culture. But Christians have everything we need to be patient because we have the Holy Spirit living in us longing to display His character to those around us.
Patient people put up with circumstances and other people, even when severely tried. Patient people display endurance, longsuffering, and perseverance. The New Testament also specifically connects patience with sharing the Gospel. God is patient as He waits for the lost to come to Him (2 Peter 3:9) and He calls His people to be patient as we extend the offer of salvation in Christ to others (2 Timothy 4:20).
The fruit (Patience) is also an important one that can distinguish a mature believer from the immature one. Patience doesn’t mean to be sluggish/slow. It means the ability to wait for God’s time, i.e. the exact time to do something perfectly. It allows you to behave wisely. The best is reserved for the patient and those led by the Spirit of God. Jesus had to wait for thirty years before starting His mission on earth. He knew when to start and when to round off at about thirty-three years of age. You will obtain God’s promises by faith and patience, not by struggling and hustling through life. Work Hard but work SMART by the guidance of the Holy Spirit.
MEDITATION: What area of your life requires you to exercise this fruit now? Think on same and let the Holy Spirit guide you on your next line of action.
PRAYER: Oh Lord, I subject my desires to your will. Let wisdom by patience showcase my destiny for greatness.
